Picking Wildflowers

I'm not sure why Andrew believes us to be boring. I think we have great fun! For example, last night we watched a family of eight siblings perform for a crowd at the local pub, Bucers. We even met a fellow Minnesotan that happened to perform with said family for a song or two. We were excited to attend the concert because we have become friends with one of the gals and her husband. So post-concert, we attended a bonfire at their family farm. We were relieved by the absence of mosquitoes (and humidity) at this bonfire; however, it was definitely time to go when I found out snakes and mice inhabit the grounds we were walking.

And today we got to go on another adventure. Our friend Kristina (see below) told us about a neat flower farm between Moscow and Pullman. You pay $7 and you get to fill up a bucket full of flowers!

Andrew was even excited to participate. Here he is picking some yellow beauties for me.

Here is the finished product:

It is almost like being in my mother-in-law's garden (below):

Who we are:

We are dreadfully boring people.

We moved from a place that was alternately hot with extreme humidity and morbidly frigid to a place (that we hope) is slightly less so. We've traded fields of corn for those of wheat. The place we now live has been described as "intellectual capital of North American Christendom."

Hopefully our being here won't hurt their reputation.

We really like to travel. Our favorite place to visit is Heaven. We go there about once a week, every week.

We have been married for almost a year now. It is surely the best and hardest thing either of us has ever done. We recommend it for just about everyone.

Speaking of people that should be married, our favorite person to make fun of is Ryan Evanson:

You may have a hard time understanding why. That's okay. You really have to know him.

Other things you might need to know about us:

Kara's favorite beer is Michelob Golden Draft Light. There is a major problem with that; aside from not being sold in the Pacific Northwest, it is a really weak, disgusting beer. She is starting to drink Fat Tire, which is probably the gateway drug to excellent lagers and ales.

Kara really loves Minnesota. I mean, who doesn't love unbelievably high taxes, the aforementioned heat, humidity, and cold, not being allowed to do anything without permission from said state, and sports teams for which the participant's ribbon was invented.

Andrew will love it more than she does (as soon as they permanently shut down the state government and the Vikings win the Superbowl).

Moscow is great. Though we've never seen a small rural community try so hard to be Seattle (if you squint real hard, the U of I water tower looks like the Space Needle). Just about every Saturday we go down to the Pike Place Farmer's Market. Kara also likes to get coffee now and again at the first four thousand nine hundred seventy-second Starbucks (not too often, I mean, it costs like a tenth of an ounce of silver to get a cup of joe), though we are much more likely to go to Bucer's.

So long,

for now,

but as soon as we step out of our boringness,

we shall return.
